Home made papad etc.patience is very important too.To increase weight you must add high energy foods like eggs paneer , soya , ghee in rice , khichdi etc.this will boost him ok.

U Can start with it after the age of 12 months any point of time whenever you are comfortable with it before that if you want to use it you can use it after six months to preparing food for the child preparing Kheer or porridge you can use that but for direct consumption it’s given after 12 months only
