A. about 6 months old Your child can begin eating solid foods at about 6 months old. By the time he or she is 7 or 8 months old, your child can eat a variety of foods from different food groups. These foods include infant cereals, meat or other proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains, yogurts and cheeses, and more. by ages 4 months to 6 months, most babies are ready to begin eating solid foods as a complement to breast-feeding or formula-feeding.4 to 8 months: Pureed veggies, fruits, and meats So it's up to you to determine whether you begin with bananas or carrots—or pureed chicken for that matter. The AAP also believes that introducing allergenic foods early can reduce the risk of developing a food allergy, especially if your child is at risk.
