A. For a 5-month-old baby, mosquito bites can cause redness, swelling, and itching. Here are safe home remedies and prevention tips to soothe your baby's skin. 🔹 Home Remedies for Mosquito Bites on Babies (5 Months Old) ✅ Cold Compress (For Redness & Swelling) Wrap ice cubes in a soft cloth and gently press on the bite for 1-2 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day to reduce itching. ✅ Breast Milk (Natural Healing) Apply a few drops of breast milk on the bite and let it air dry. It has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe irritation. ✅ Aloe Vera Gel (Cooling & Anti-Itch) Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the affected area. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, then wipe gently. ✅ Coconut Oil / Mustard Oil (For Faster Healing) Dab coconut oil or mustard oil on the bite twice a day. Acts as a natural barrier against infection. ✅ Oatmeal Paste (For Itchy Skin) Mix oatmeal powder + water into a paste. Apply for 10 minutes and wash off gently. 🚫 What to AVOID ❌ No scratching – Keep baby’s nails trimmed to avoid infections. ❌ No strong creams or ointments – Avoid adult anti-itch creams. ❌ No talcum powder – It won’t help and can irritate the skin. 🦟 Prevention Tips for Mosquito Bites on Babies ✅ Use a mosquito net around the crib while sleeping. ✅ Apply baby-safe mosquito repellent cream (like Mamaearth or Mother Sparsh). ✅ Use natural mosquito repellents like camphor or neem oil in the room. ✅ Dress baby in light-colored, full-sleeved clothes. ✅ Keep doors & windows closed in the evening to avoid mosquitoes entering. 🚨 When to See a Doctor? If the bite turns into a large red swelling. If baby has fever, rashes, or excessive irritability. If the bite starts oozing pus (could be infected).
