Q.

What is the gap between first breastfeeding and second one. My son is 40 days old , after giving breastfeeding he would sleep. 30 minutes later he would urinate and start crying. Again he is asking for breastfeeding like crying, sucking his fingers and opening his mouth. While giving again breastfeeding he is calming down. Is it normal to breast feed him frequently like this.

A. Hey, normally doctors say 2 hours of gap should be there. Baby is small and they can cry due to several reasons like- they just need the warmth of mother, the diaper is full, the baby is hungry, colic and so on. It will take some time for you to figure out the reason(dilemma of entry new mom). Keep breastfeeding on demand, burp well to avoid colic issue. Co-sleep and that's a saviour. If you feel you aren't getting enough rest, it's stressing you out then you can talk to the pediatrician and start formula. My son was on mixed feed. I used to give Aptamil Gold stage 1 formula. It has prebiotics and HMOs which keeps the gut healthy. My husband used to feed him at night and I would get some rest. So, that was a relief. Take care.

A. you have to give only demand feeding to the child that is whenever the child feels hungry you can give milk to the child and the child will take the milk according to the need and then will leave the milk. if the child is taking more milk you can offer milk in more quantity with intermittent burping . there is no need to to go for fixed feerding pattern. also there is no need to wake up the child from sleep if the weight of the child is within normal limits . also if the weigdht gain of the child every month is normal then no need to worry regarding the pattern of breastfeeding
