Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. the recurrent stretching / curving of the body again and again as well as uncomfort / making grunting sounds as well as hiccups as well as colic pain all are due to gas in the intestine and stomach.
it is very important that after giving milk to the child you
should keep the child in upright position and do burping for 15 to 20 minutes(irrespectived that you hear the burps or not). gas in stomach causes hiccups.
do not keep the child back on the bed after 1 burping because one timed burping will not remove all the gas and if the gas is not removed properly it goes into intestine causing abnormal distension and that will lead to colic pain again and again.
keep the child in upright position whether you hear the burping sound or not and also it is not important that you will hear the sound when the child removes the air from the oral cavity.
no need to worry about the smell in the stool if the consistency of the stool is normal.
it is very normal that the smell of the stool would be slightly different in children less than 6 months of age due to the supplements they might be taking as well as due to the maturing digesting system.
if the weight gain of the child is proper and the child is not having any other colic problems then no need to worry
