Q.

we didi 2 D ECHO test of my 18 days old daughter. It revealed VSD(2.1mm) and ASD(3.2mm) with left to right shunt. Cardiologist said these are normal 2 holes in the heart. Is it severe or curable? And which kind of treatment is needed?

A. In most babies, the wall closes completely on its own as the heart develops. When the septum does not fully fuse, one or more holes (atrial septal defects) are left behind. These are the holes in the heart that must be corrected
