One common cause is a minor injury or bump, which might not be immediately noticeable, but can cause swelling or bruising. Babies tend to be quite active and sometimes can bump themselves without it being obvious at first. Another possibility is a blocked tear duct, which can cause mild swelling and sometimes a small mark near the eye area. Infections such as styes or swollen glands can also cause localized swelling near the eye or eyebrow. In some cases, allergic reactions to food, medications, or environmental factors could lead to swelling or marks on the face.
If the swelling persists, worsens, or is accompanied by signs of infection such as redness, pus, or fever, it's important to consult a pediatrician for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
