Dr GhouseGuardian of 3 children3 years agoA. no it is not at all advisable to use cows milk to the baby less than 1 year of age you can you formula milk for the baby is mother's milk is not sufficient
Shaista TarannumMom of a 16 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. maam ideally you should not give cow's milk to your baby till completion of one year. it contains certain proteins that cannot be digested by the baby at this stage. at 25 days you should certainly not give.
if you are breastfeeding please eat well and frequently breastfeed . that is best for your babyand the best way to increase breastmilk production also.
if breastmilk is not sufficient at all then give formula milk once in a while.
The quantity of formula milk depends on baby's weight. baby should be given 150-200 ml of formula feed for every kg of baby weight. for example if baby is 3 kgs then give 450-600 ml in 24 hrs. that is the thumb rule. Divide this through the day.
But since all babies are different then the quantity may vary a bit also. Please refer to the instructions on the box also once where the quantity will be given as per baby's weight or age.
One note about formula feeding: It's easier to overfeed when using formula because it takes less effort to drink from a bottle than from a breast. So please make sure you keep an on the quantity.
since you are breastfeeding also adjust the quantity accordingly.
