Lovleena MishraMom of 2 children4 years agoA. Iron needs can be met through introducing iron rich foods in your baby's diet. And your baby can continue to breastfeed. I am a mother of 2 daughters and they were also exclusively breastfed for first 2 years of their life. After 6 months, you can introduce iron rich foods like potatoes, sweet potatoes, red meat, egg yolk, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, soybeans, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, etc. But these should be introduced gradually over time depending on your baby's age. But if you want to introduce formula milk and iron supplements, please consult your doctor before giving it to your baby.

Author of questionGuardian of a 11 yr 7 m old boy4 years agoA. by the age of 6 months, infants require external source of iron as mother's milk contains very less iron, however formula milk is fortified with iron. My child is exclusively breastfed, so there's requirement of external iron source

As babies get their iron content from mother's milk or iron fortified formula milk that they eat. Once the baby completes 6 months, you can also start offering green leafy vegetables especially spinach which is rich in iron.
