POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. Thanks for the clarification. If your 4 years, 6 months old child has a cough but no nasal congestion, it could be due to:
Throat irritation from dryness or postnasal drip (even if nose isn't blocked). Allergies (dust, pollen, etc.). Mild viral infection. Exposure to cold air or strong smells.
Here’s what you can do at home:
Give warm fluids like warm water, soup, or honey with warm water (if over 1 year old). Use a humidifier in the room. Avoid cold or fried food temporarily. You may give pediatric cough syrup like Ascoril LS Junior or Honitus – but only under a doctor’s guidance.
If the cough lasts more than 5–7 days, worsens, or is accompanied by fever, wheezing, or breathing difficulty, it’s best to consult a pediatrician.
