Q.

My wife had GDM , with sugar more than 700; Triglycerides more than 600. It's been 7 months since she had C section delivery. Her sugar level is absolutely normal. Should she do a HBa1c test? or what test should she do to ensure that her GDM hasn't transformed into Type 2?

A. Within 6 weeks to 6 months postpartum, with a 2 hour 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Before a future pregnancy. Every 3 years or more often, depending on the presence of other risk factors for type 2 diabetes.
