A. Your son seems to have exceptional academic abilities, especially in math, which is impressive for his age. However, his challenges with social interaction, avoiding eye contact, and limited communication skills could indicate traits associated with conditions like autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or social anxiety. Some gifted children also struggle with socializing because they think differently from their peers. It's important to observe his behavior in different situations. Does he struggle with understanding emotions, have repetitive behaviors, or show resistance to changes in routine? If his social and communication difficulties are affecting his daily life, consulting a developmental pediatrician or child psychologist can help assess his needs and provide guidance on improving his social skills. Early support can make a big difference in helping him develop both intellectually and socially.
