Q.

My son is 4 months old He pass motion 5 to 6 times a day which is normal however he strain too much to pass like constipated adult Should i consult doctor, please suggest Thank you in advance

A. no need to worry about the frequency and colour of the stool if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid. also there is no need to worry about the smell of the stool if the consistency is normal. you have to meet the doctor if it is watery inconsistency or hard consistency otherwise semi solid to solid stool is normal. also passing stool after taking food is normal. It is very normal for small children that sometimes they will not pass stool for 10 days also and sometimes they will pass stool more than 7 to 8 times per day. If the consistency of the stool is Semi solid to semi liquid do not worry about the frequency of the stool. No medicines needs to be given in such xa case but you have to meet the doctor only if the stool consistency is hard. It is advisable tox give only milk to the child and nothing else before completion of 6 months of age. intermittent crying of the child is due to colic pain and not due to constipation.
