A. It's normal for babies to experience growth spurts, especially around 3 months of age, where their feeding patterns may suddenly increase. Why is this happening? Growth Spurts: At 3 months, many babies go through a growth spurt, during which they may feel hungrier and need more milk. This phase usually lasts 3-5 days and then returns to normal. Increased Milk Intake: This increased demand for milk could be because your baby’s stomach capacity is still small, and he may need smaller, more frequent feeds. Comfort Feeding: Babies also tend to seek comfort by breastfeeding more frequently, even if they are not necessarily hungry. Is It Normal? Yes, it's completely normal for a 3-month-old baby to feed more frequently during a growth spurt. After the spurt, he will likely return to a more consistent feeding schedule. As long as he is active, alert, and gaining weight well, this should not be a concern. What You Can Do: Keep Offering Milk: If he demands more, go ahead and offer more milk; trust his appetite during this phase. Track Growth: Ensure that your baby is steadily gaining weight and growing according to the pediatrician's growth chart. Monitor Hydration: Make sure your baby is staying hydrated and has enough wet diapers (around 6-8 per day). Consistency: After this phase, his feeding schedule should normalize. If it continues beyond a week or if you notice other concerns, consult your pediatrician. If your baby is gaining weight well and seems happy, there’s likely nothing to worry about. Feel free to reach out if you need any other tips!
