Q.
my son is 2and half yr old but he is not able to speak much. he understands everything.He speaks few words but doesn't repeat all the words which I try to make him speak. and also not making few sentences with 2-3 words. my brother and my husband are also late speakers. moreover we r bilingual, we sorak telugu and hindi both at home and he understands both. so should I consider it genetic and should I be consult any doctor?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Regarding Speech Baby usually start mono syllable by 6 to 7 months of age then by syllable words come by 9 to 10 months of age
then by 12 to 14 months of age baby say two to three words followed by jargon speech at 15-16 months .
child can start saying simple sentences by two yeatyurs of age .
just make the child comfortable and do more interaction with the cyhild so that he can learn to speak sentences properly.
if the speech does not comes even by three years of age you need to consult your doctor for a proper assessment of the child .
