Q.
my son is 17 months old..he has constipation..and has been taking lactitol monohydrate syrup 5ml twice a day..the first day after taking syrup he had normal smooth stool..but after that he had hard stools and cries while passing..why the medicine is not working..do i have to wait few more days

PASMalarMom of a 5 yr 4 m old boy3 years agoA. To get rid of constipation in babies, please give soaked dried grapes early morning about 5 nos along with the water it is soaked. Give about 2 grams of butter after food. Banana is the best food to relieve constipation.

Your child is having constipation for which kindly give plenty of water to drink and fibre diet made from cereals pulses vegetables and fruits. Changes in diet has to be made Specially give papaya, banana, oats, fennel seeds water pear, prune, pineapple, resins, plum as it will help in decreasing constipation. Even after that the problem continues kindly meet your doctor for xconstipation medicine. it is important for you to know that the problem of constipation will improve with increasing age of the child. You may increase or decrease the dosage of constipation medicine if needed according to the consistency of the stool.
