Q.
My son is 16 months old ,he is not talking..he is saying dada Dida sometimes mumma papa..is this okay?from what age a child will start to talk..i always speak with him but he always points to know what it is like he just wants to know the name of an animal then he points it and makes it sound like yaa yaa..is it normal??

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. proper language / speech development will start between 18 months of age to 3 years of age.
there is no need to worry before that just concentrate on the diet and regular interaction with the child.
also speech and language develops properly with more people available to interact with the child
avoid usage of tv mobile and laptop because they are the most common reasons for delayed speech and language development.
the most important thing is that before speech, understanding of the commands givenz by the parents should be present.
by 18 months if the child is not following basic commands then only you have to meet the doctor for speech and development assessment.
requirementx of speech therapy will also be discussed by your doctor.

Your child is already speaking quite enough that’s decent enough more or less when you communicate more with your child the child is going to learn more it seems like you have a big family the grandparents are also together so try to converse more don’t give any screen time to the child and as far as I know grandparents are very fond of talking to their grandkids so make sure that you guys have a good communication with the child
