Q.

My son fell from stairs although it was just few set of stairs he fell on his face straight and hit his lips badly and it started to bleed and my mother immediately made him drink some cold water and I kept ice pack on it and the bleeding stoped. I checked his mouth and only his lips was hit and wounded badly. I wanted to take him to doctor but my mom asked me to wait it out and see how bad the condition was as she thought it wasn't a serious injury. The swelling on the lips was very bad at first but after a few hours it's come down and looks reduced now. And this is not the first time he has hurt his mouth he has fallen thrice in different places and different incidents and hit his mouth and bled and it didn't turn out to be very serious. This one seems like a bad hurt on his lips. Still I would like some suggestions on what to apply to the wounded part of lips to make it better or should I take him to doctor or should I give him some home remedies?

A. You can continue applying some ice pack on the affected area and the swelling will reduce in a couple of days. Not to worry if the injury is not severe but please be careful as at this age babies still don't have proper balance so be with the baby till the time the baby is able to walk independently properly.
