A. If your 7-month-old baby has a burn, first gently cool the area under clean, running cool (not very cold) water for about 10–15 minutes. Do not apply ice, toothpaste, oil, or home remedies. After cooling, pat the area dry with a clean cloth. For minor superficial burns (only redness, no blisters), you may apply a mild pediatric-safe antiseptic or burn cream if advised by a doctor. Safromacin (an antibiotic ointment) should not be applied without medical advice, especially in babies, because the need for it depends on the depth and severity of the burn
