Q.

My kids has running nose(thick) whenever they sneeze and also has mucus from past one month .. medication from doc is done and it's still not going... they don't know how to split and I am not sure how I can help them dissolove by itself inside or help them come out.. any suggestions to help dissolve the mucus...pls suggest

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a fcproper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed. if any fever is there paracetamol can be gidven to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
