My kid age is 4 years 11 months old he has adenoids in 4th grade and tonsils in 2nd grade . Every month he suffers from cough and cold 2-3 times in a month so doctor suggests to go to surgery and 3 doctors suggested the same is this ok at this age. In google one article I read at the from of 5 the adenoids will shrink automatically . If we go to surgery are there any side effects.

you have to just control recurrent cough and cold due to any of the reasons and the child will not have more than reasonable increase in size of adenoid and tonsils.
any surgical intervention is required only if the child is having difficulty in breathing as well as difficulty in swallowing and difficulty in sleeping at night.
many times nebulization as well as inhalation sprays are given to decrease the size and you can follow your doctor in this.
it is advisable to give flu vaccination to the child which will help in decreasing the chances of viral fever as well as viral cough and cold
