Q.
My daughter is not able to speak certain character clearly like, S , L, R. She cant speak words like, smelling, small, lawyer What is the right time to consult a speech therapist? People are advice at the age of 5 to 6 . she can speak well automatically. Is there any symptom, which indicate me she need a speech therapy? She is 4.10 year old.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Regarding Speech Baby usually start mono syllable by 6 to 7 months of age then by syllable words come by 9 to 10 months of age
then by 12 to 14 months of age baby say two to three words followed by jargon speech at 15-16 months .
child can start saying simple sentences by two years of age .
just make the child comfortable and do more interaction with the child so that hjyhe can learn to speak sentences properly.
if the speech does not comes even by three years of age you need to consult your doctor for a proper assessment of the child .

By 36 months (three years), 75 to 100% of speech should be intelligible to familiar people. By four years of age, a child should usually be understood, including by people who are unfamiliar to them.
