A. Oral antifungal medications for children include griseofulvin and terbinafine. Your child's healthcare provider may prescribe a selenium sulfide shampoo. You'll need to wash your child's hair with the shampoo at least twice a week.the underlying cause is cradle cap. Dandruff, eczema, and allergies are other possible causes. If your baby's scalp doesn't improve after a couple weeks of treatment or if symptoms get worse, see your baby's pediatrician.Cradle cap causes crusty or oily scaly patches on a baby's scalp. The condition isn't painful or itchy. But it can cause thick white or yellow scales that aren't easy to remove. Cradle cap usually clears up on its own in weeks or a few months.Wash and then dry the area with a clean towel. (A separate clean towel should be used for the rest of the body.)Apply the antifungal cream, powder, or spray as directed on the label.Change clothing every day.Treat any other fungal infections, such as athlete's foot. There are many parents who have found breast milk to be an effective cradle cap treatment. Add a small amount of breast milk to your baby's shampoo and gently massage the scalp with the mixture. Brush the scalp lightly afterward to loosen scaly skin.Coconut Oil This multi-purpose oil naturally has anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties that can kill the Candida that causes many diaper rashes. It also reduces inflammation and increases hydration while also acting as a barrier between baby's rash and their diaper.
