A. A balanced and nutritious diet is crucial for the growth and development of a 2-year-old child. Here's a general guide for a proper Indian diet for a toddler: 1. **Milk and Dairy Products:** - Offer whole milk (around 500-700 ml per day). - Include yogurt, paneer (cottage cheese), and cheese for calcium. 2. **Cereals and Grains:** - Provide a variety of grains like rice, wheat, oats, and ragi. - Include chapatis, rice, dosas, idlis, and upma. 3. **Fruits:** - Offer a variety of fruits such as bananas, apples, pears, berries, and citrus fruits. - Cut them into small, toddler-friendly pieces. 4. **Vegetables:** - Include a mix of colorful vegetables like carrots, peas, spinach, potatoes, and tomatoes. - Prepare them in different forms – steamed, mashed, or in soups. 5. **Proteins:** - Include dal (lentils), pulses, eggs, and lean meats. - Offer well-cooked and finely chopped protein sources. 6. **Healthy Fats:** - Include ghee, butter, and vegetable oils in moderation for healthy fats. 7. **Snacks:** - Offer nutritious snacks like fruit slices, yogurt, or a small portion of nuts (if no allergies). 8. **Hydration:** - Ensure adequate water intake. You can also offer diluted fruit juices in moderation. 9. **Limit Sugary and Processed Foods:** - Minimize the intake of sugary treats and processed snacks. 10. **Small and Frequent Meals:** - Provide small, frequent meals to meet the energy needs of an active toddler. Always consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice, especially if your child has specific dietary requirements or allergies. It's important to monitor your child's growth and adjust their diet accordingly.
