Q.

My daughter is 1 year old. She is resisting eating food. I know it's a very cliche question but do you have any suggestions on how I can get her interested in food. Or maybe some recipes, hahaha

A. It's common for one-year-olds to go through phases where they resist eating, but with a few strategies, you can encourage their interest in food. At this age, they’re developing their independence, so offering them a variety of foods and allowing them to explore can help. Try turning mealtime into a fun experience with colorful, bite-sized portions and different textures. Let her try finger foods like small pieces of steamed vegetables, fruits, or soft bread. You could also offer dips like yogurt or hummus, which makes eating interactive and enjoyable. Introducing playful recipes like veggie pancakes, fruit smoothies, or mashed potato balls can make food more appealing. For example, mix spinach or carrot puree into pancake batter to create colorful pancakes. Offering variety can spark curiosity in trying new tastes. Also, involve her in simple aspects of meal prep, like letting her pick a fruit from a bowl or helping mash something with her hands. Be patient, as it may take time for her to adjust to different foods, but consistency and creativity will eventually pay off!
