Q.
my daughter is 1 year 15 days old.. since yesterday evening she got fever 101.2,. she was quite well till night..now suddenly started crying excessively without any reason. i have given her pcm 2 times. what is the reason for crying and what should i do in this condition

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children1 Year agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dosehu of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .h
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

RashmiMom of a 11 yr old girl1 Year agoA. Sometimes the child could be crying due to hunger and sometimes due to stomach pain also so you can give medicine for stomach pain if you have any otherwise otherwise paracetamol is going to do the effect for stomach pain as well as reducing down the fever
