my daughter is 1 month 23 day old completely on breast feed. she does not burp even after 30 min which is causing gas and discomfort to her. what can i do so that she can burp and does not cause any discomfort

ExpertDr Disha PatelAyurvedic Physician3 years agoA. Feed in upright position. Allow her a good latch. Burping after every feeding, will help her ease the gas. Patting or rubbing a baby's back usually helps them to burp or pass gas.

Divya BajajMom of a 3 yr 11 m old girl3 years agoA. hi, not burping is very common upto 3 months. 1) after feeding keep her in upright position for 20 mins , even at night, after every feed. this is a long term investment. after 3 months she will burp immediately after feeding with no efforts. 2) after feeding you can give her tummy time , start with couple of minutes. set target to give her tummy time once for 3-5 mins every awake hour. 3) collic aid medicine is available , commonly used for this. mostly discomfort would be in evening, so judge the timings and give her twice may be at 4 pm n then at 10 pm. once baby is comfortable with first 2 methods, reduce it to once at 8 pm after a week or so. eventually stop it, but make sure you help baby by giving her enough Tummy time n holding her upright. Don't panic and worry, this is very common, my baby too had it, their digestive system is still developing, so it's a tough time which they need to overcome, we can only help . trust me after 3 months Max, this discomfort will be history. all the best .
