Q.

My daughter has developed fever 101c at 10pm. She is 1yr 1m old and 8.5 kg. We had given her 5ml of paracetamol 120 syrup at 10.30pm. But still fever is there. We had started wiping with damp cloth. Is the dosage 5ml is correct? Can we give her paracetamol after 5 hrs gap?

A. Fever is a response of the body to any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose as the first line treatment also this dose can be again repeated after every 5 to 6 hours if fever is repeating. and you can also do cold sponging of the body if required also you can give syrup meftal p 5ml if fever comes again in between
