Q.

My daughter had 102 fever which lasted for almost entire night through 10pm to 6am. We gave calpol 250mg 2 doses (around 10pm and 4am) and continued sponging entire night. What else could be done to reduce fever if at all it comes again.

A. Give pcm as per prescribed dose and at proper adviced time interval . For any fever paracetamol is fine..after giving paracetamol wait for 30mins to 1 hour...if fever does not subside you can give tepid sponging to bring down the temperature if fever ..Always use room temperature water/tap water..not cool, because shivering can actually raise your baby's temperature rather than help bring it down. The child should also be encouraged to drink fluids to replace those lost through sweating. keep in touch with ur doctor
