A. At 4.5 months old, most babies are still primarily dependent on breast milk or formula for nutrition. The general recommendation is to start introducing solids around 6 months, as babies’ digestive systems are more developed by then. However, if your baby is showing signs of readiness—such as sitting up with support, good head control, and showing interest in food—you can consider introducing solids, but it’s important to start with single-grain cereals or pureed fruits and vegetables. Always consult with your pediatrician before starting solids to ensure your baby is developmentally ready and to get guidance on the best foods to start with. Additionally, continuing breast milk or formula as the main source of nutrition for the first year is still essential, even once solids are introduced.
