A. Namaste Mom, A full term baby is expected to almost double their birth weight by age of 4 to 6 months and later triples by age of 1. You could probably include soft consistency foods for the baby , include foods such as dal, rice, roti, millets such ragi, sago, dalia, oats ,egg yolk, dry fruits , nuts and seeds, etc

A. It is concerning if your 8-month-old baby's weight has plateaued at 6 kg, as growth is an important indicator of overall health. At this age, babies typically gain weight steadily, and the average weight range for an 8-month-old is between 7 to 9 kg. First, ensure your baby is receiving adequate nutrition. Offer a variety of nutrient-dense foods like pureed fruits, vegetables, cereals, lentils, and soft foods such as mashed potatoes or rice. If you haven't already, you can start introducing protein-rich foods such as well-cooked egg yolk, chicken, or fish, as well as whole grains and healthy fats like avocado. Breast milk or formula should still be a key part of their diet, as it provides essential nutrients for growth. If your baby is refusing solids, try offering small portions throughout the day and gradually increase the variety of textures and flavors. Also, observe if there are any feeding difficulties, like reflux or discomfort, that might be hindering adequate food intake. If your baby’s weight continues to be low despite these efforts or if you're concerned about any developmental or health issues, consult your pediatrician. They may perform a physical exam, assess feeding patterns, and check for underlying issues like metabolic or digestive concerns, and can guide you on appropriate steps, including possibly referring you to a pediatric nutritionist.
