my baby passing dark green stool today 4times. I am giving ferilite drops prescribed by doctor.. is this normal

ExpertDr. Swapnil SaxenaAyurvedic Physician4 years agoA. it is Iron drops and it is quite common for baby has green colour stool and black colour of stool if you're giving iron supplement so there is nothing to worry about the colour of the stool consistency is fine

If they look more like black or the consistency is too watery then u should consult your doctor to make sure there is no infection . Sometimes dark green stools can be due to any iron supplements that u r giving your baby. Green stools may also be due to the fact that baby is getting only low fat fore milk(milk that comes first) as they don't feed longer in one breast and switch breasts pretty soon. If u let the baby feed longer in one breast then he will get the high fat hind milk which comes later.
