Q.
My baby is putting hands in mouth continuously ,is cranky and not able to breastfeed properly ,he is 5.5 m old. what can be the reason? How to stop him from putting hands in mouth? How may I know he's fully fed?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. finger, thumb, hand,things insertion in the oral cavity is very normal at this stage and usually it is due to teething pain the child is experiencing along with inflammation and pain in the gums.
just maintain hygiene of the child finger as well as any type of things which goes inside the oral cavity and also try to maintain the hygiene of your finger when you are touching the hands of the child.
to decrease the teething pain you can press the gums of the child and if the child ids very irritable and crying for pain you can give paracetamol also.
it is a self limiting habit and no treatment is required.
but if hygiene is not maintained then dirty things going inside thxe oral cavity can cause infection fever vomiting and loose motions.

NikithaMom of 2 children2 years agoA. hello baby as got into the habit and just distract your child which can help and especially during the feed time distraction can hep so that the baby takes yhe veed well and os complete and any concern then ot is better to check with your doctor
