Q.

my baby is now 3 yrs. he has been suffering from fever above 101 dig f for last four days...he has mild headache and red eyes....I consult a doctor who advised me to give paracitamol for this is a viral fever and advised a rtpcr for my child. I did so but result not come yet...now problem is fever is constantly pesist ..when I give him paracitamol fever reduces but after 6/7 hours it increases upto 102 dig f ...I do not understand what will I do? ...please help me and tell me is it right to give paracitamol four continuously four days?

A. Fever is a response of the body to any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose as the first line treatment also this dose can gybe again repeated after every 5 to 6 hours if fever is repeating. and you can also do cold sponging of the body if required
