Q.

My baby is 4 months old. she has some blue patches in her back and leg. is it normal?

A. they are Mongolian spots which is a type of birthmark but does not require any type of treatment and will go away on its own and may increase and decrease intensity and usually go away by one year of age

A. Infant methemoglobinemia is also called “blue baby syndrome.” It is a condition where a baby's skin turns blue. This happens when there is not enough oxygen in the blood. Parents should immediately contact a physician if baby's skin is unusually bluish in color.
