Q.

My baby is 4 months old. I have undergone a dental procedure of tooth extraction and i am on antibiotics for 5 days (cefixime cv consisting of cefixime 200 mg and clavulanate potassium 125 mg) and diclofenec sodium tablets. I wants to ask shall i continue breastfeeding my baby or should I stop for 5 days. Thanks.

A. The use of most antibiotics is considered compatible with breast feeding. Penicillins, aminopenicillins, clavulanic acid, cephalosporins, macrolides and metronidazole at dosages at the low end of the recommended dosage range are considered appropriate for use for lactating women.
