A. hi doctor thank you for your response, in continuation of my previous question - baby is very cranky today and isn't taking feed directly from mother, we have pumped out the milk and he has taken his feed, we have started practicing holding a baby straight for 15-20 minutes after feed, the condition is still the same, will it take a couple of days to improve or we can see immediate change? is it advisable to go ahead with some medicine?

A. the recurrent stretching / curving of the body again and again as well as uncomfort / making grunting sounds as well as hiccups as well as colic pain all are due to gas in the intestine and stomach.
it is very important that after giving milk to the child you
should keep the child in upright position and do burping for 15 to 20 minutes(irrespective that you hear the burps or not). gas in stomach causes hiccups.
do not keep the child back on the bed after 1 burping because one time burping will not remove all the gas and if the gas is not removed properly it goes into intestine causing abnormal distension and that will lead to colic pain again and again.d
keep the child in upright position whether you hear the burping sound or not and also it is not important that you will hear the sound when the child removes the air from the oral cavity. d

A. Bonnisan is a good medicine that you can use for your child five drops one time maximum four times in the day you can use it if you need to gas is a good sign at least it is a relief that your child is not having stomach pain and sometimes they could be a possibility of little bit of discomfort while passing gas and that’s normal for a child
