Q.

My baby is 2months old..From yesterday onwards he is kind of resisting breastfeeding. He sucks for hardly 4-5 mins and then pushes away. Even after hours of feeding he is not showing any signs of hunger or any kind of discomfort. I always burp him before and after feeds, but now he hardly feeds more than 5 mins. What should I do doctor?

A. Breastfeeding is always a very important factor for the baby and mother and many times there are some problem faced by mother because of either wrong position while feeding lack of proper diet stress related factors. A proper is counselling is required which can be donfbte by a lactational counsellor along with a proper diet with plenty of liquids some supplements may be helpful like shatavari . Also try to avoid giving top milk in initial stage specially with bottle feeding which may bef the culprit for lactational failure most of the time .

A. Newborns may nurse for up to 20 minutes or longer on one or both breasts. As babies get older and more skilled at breastfeeding, they may take about 5–10 minutes on each side.
