POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. At 2 months and 10 days, your baby weighing 5 kg is doing well in terms of weight — that’s within the normal range. It’s great that she has started cooing or making sounds; that’s an important early sign of communication.
As for smiling, many babies start giving social smiles around 6 to 8 weeks, but for some it can take until 10 to 12 weeks. If she is alert, making eye contact, and responding to sounds, the smile may just be around the corner. Every baby develops at their own pace, so don't worry yet.
Give her lots of eye contact, talk gently, and smile at her often — this encourages her to respond. If she doesn’t smile by the end of the third month, you can mention it to your pediatrician for reassurance.
