Q.

My baby is 2 months 2 days old he is on formula feeding he usually takes 90 ml for every feed sometimes he will ask for 1 hour again he will take 90 ml or 60 ml his birth weight is 2.5 kgs now he is 5.1 kgs previously when we checked on Friday his weight was 4.85 is he increasing weight rapidly? This is happening from 1 month he is gaining weight at least 90 gms for 3 days is there any problem?

A. its fine you have to give only demand feeding to the child that is whenever the child feels hungry you can give milk to the child and the child will take the milk according to the need and then will leave the milk. if the child is taking more milk you can offer milk in more quantity with intermittent burping . there is no need to to go for fixed feeding pattern. also there is no need to wake dup the child from sleep if the weight of the child is within normal limits . also if the weight gain of the child every month is normal then no need to worry regarding the pattern of breastfeeding

A. See actually at this is the appetite for a child is somewhere around 60 to 90 ML only but they should be full for at least two or three hours after taking a feed if your child is feeling hungry like this and you’re feeling and the child is able to digest without vomiting and accordingly the weight gain is happening then it is not a problem
