A. If your one-year-old baby has been passing undigested food in stool for the last two months, it could be due to several reasons:
Possible Causes Immature Digestive System – At this age, digestion is still developing, so some foods may pass partially undigested. High-Fiber Foods – Foods like corn, peas, carrots, and beans are harder to digest. Fast Gut Transit – If food moves too quickly through the intestines, it may not be fully digested. Food Sensitivities – Some babies have trouble digesting certain foods like dairy, gluten, or acidic fruits. Lactose Intolerance – If your baby consumes milk but can’t digest lactose properly, it may cause loose or undigested stools. Teething Effects – Teething can sometimes cause changes in digestion. Infection or Parasites – If accompanied by diarrhea, mucus, or foul smell, it could be an infection or parasite issue. What You Can Do
✔ Observe Diet – Track which foods are causing undigested stool. Try reducing fiber-heavy foods for a few days.
✔ Encourage Proper Chewing – Offer small, well-cooked, and mashed foods.
✔ Offer Probiotics – Curd, yogurt, or probiotic drops can improve digestion.
✔ Avoid Processed Foods – Junk food and excessive sugar can irritate digestion.
✔ Ensure Hydration – Water helps digestion, but avoid excessive juices.
✔ Check for Weight Gain & Activity – If your baby is growing well and active, it's usually not a major concern.
When to See a Doctor?
⚠ If your baby has:
Frequent diarrhea or watery stools Weight loss or no weight gain Stomach pain or bloating Mucus or blood in stool
