POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. At 16 months, many babies are walking independently, but some take a little longer to start, and that’s usually okay. Every child develops at their own pace. Some toddlers may still be cruising along furniture or taking a few steps with support at this age.
However, if your baby isn’t showing attempts to stand or take steps at all, or seems to have muscle weakness, stiffness, or coordination issues, it’s a good idea to discuss this with your pediatrician. They may want to check for any underlying concerns and possibly refer you to a physical therapist for guidance.
In the meantime, encourage your baby by giving plenty of safe space to explore standing and cruising, offering sturdy furniture or push toys to support her, and praising every little attempt she makes to move independently.
Would you like tips on exercises or activities to help her gain confidence and strength for walking?
