A. At 1 year and 8 months, a typical baby's weight usually ranges between 9 to 12 kg, depending on various factors like genetics, nutrition, and overall health. A weight of 6 kg is significantly lower than the average for this age group. Possible Causes for Low Weight: 1. Prematurity: If your baby was born premature, it can affect her growth rate. 2. Nutritional Intake: Inadequate nutrition or difficulty feeding could lead to lower weight. 3. Health Issues: Chronic infections, digestive problems, or metabolic disorders can hinder weight gain. 4. Developmental Delays: Some babies may have slower growth due to underlying conditions or genetic factors. What You Can Do: Consult a Pediatrician: It's important to talk to your doctor to rule out any underlying medical issues and get a proper assessment of your baby's growth. Nutritional Support: Ensure that your baby is getting a balanced diet rich in proteins, healthy fats, and vitamins. You might need to introduce more calorie-dense foods like: Whole milk or full-fat yogurt. Avocado, sweet potatoes, and bananas. Mashed lentils, eggs, and peanut butter (if no allergies). Frequent Feeding: Offer small, frequent meals throughout the day, including healthy snacks. Track Growth: Keep monitoring her weight and height regularly to track her progress. Since your baby’s weight is considerably lower, it’s essential to seek guidance from a healthcare professional to identify the cause and ensure proper intervention.
