Q.

My baby is 1 month old. He has lost a lot of weight and doc said breastmilk is insufficient and start giving him formula. What should i do to increase breastmilk?

A. Dear ma’am, what was the birth weight and present weight? Breast milk production works on how frequently you feed and how actively your baby suckles. Make sure the baby is latched well to receive enough milk and encourage frequent breastfeeding both during the day and night to increase your milk supply. Also give maximum skin to skin time. I would suggest you to consult a certified lactation consultant.

Hi mom Take more water fruits vegetables protein rich diet nutritious diet to increase your milk supply Take lactogen tablet to increase your milk supply Maintain hydration Take a good care of your baby Burp well after every feeding Do tummy time and cycling movement of legs to relieve gas and constipation Try to keep head up position while feeding
