ExpertDr. Minal AcharyaNutritionist7 years agoA. it is better that you do not adopt such drastic and abrupt methods.
breastfeeding should be stopped gradually for it to be less stressful for you as well as baby
Ensure that the child eats enough; increase number of meals.
Increase interval between breastfeeds. Drop one feed every day per week. Taper over 2-3 mo.
Stop morning breastfeeds first, then afternoon feeds after 2 - 3 weeks. Avoid situations that remind the baby of the breast: other family members and father can help with feeding and putting child to sleep.
The nighttime feeding is usually the last to go. Make a bedtime routine not centered around breastfeeding. read a good book which may eventually become more important than a long session at the breast , rub child's back, sing lullaby. Your child may agree to rest his head on your breast instead of feeding. Talk to your child about what's going on. He may understand more than you think.
A lot of extra love and attention in other forms will be needed now. for example try spending spending time at playground, or anything your child will be distracted with and stimulated by.

Don't do this to yourself and to the baby by applying bitter things on nipple...babies wean off gradually...first of all offer water whenever she gets up in the night...otherwaie offer normal milk...keep her tummy full by giving a healthy and filling dinner so she sleeps for longer duration. Also first stop the day time feeding first and then stop the night feeds.
