Good Growth of the child is very important and for this most important is that child should take a healthy diet where its necessary to give a balance diet which should contain all the nutrition required. This is very important for building the immunity also.
Encourage for green vegetables fruits dairy products all kinds of dal and other protein containing food items like soyabean eggs etc.
Some nutritional deficiencies can be a cause for less appetite like iron deficiency which is most common.
Sdupplements like iron supplements and multivitamin with lysine like syp zincovit CL can be givden for 1-2 months to increase the appetite.
Diet counselling is also very important .

I Believe as of now you should consult your paediatrician go ahead with a proper check up of the child because this kind of behaviour at the age of 17 months is not good at this age kids can have proper meal three times in a day so there could be some issue that needs to be taken care of
