Q.

My baby boy was born prematurely at 33 weeks(7 months). What age shall I take take to follow weight chart ? ie. from Actual delivery date at 33 weeks(7 months) or from his estimated date of delivery ta end of 40 weeks(9 months)? He is currently 3.6 kgs after 3 months from Actual Date of delivery, which is very underweight. If we take age as 1 month from Estimated Date of delivery(9 months), his weight is good.

A. Definitely you can’t compare your baby with term babies and instead of comparing with the weight for that age you can calculate 30 g per day of weight gain . The milestones should also be not compared with Term babies because even they will get delayedWrite Your Answer Here

A. Thank you doctor. But he has never gained weight at 30gm/day. Instead he has been gaining around 16 to 18 gm/day. Recently for around 10 days, his weight gain is reduced to around 6 to 8 gm/day. His weight is now 3.6 kgs. Is he normal ?
