A. For your 17-month-old babies, it’s important to focus on nutrient-dense foods that are rich in healthy fats, proteins, and carbohydrates to help promote weight gain. Here are some recipes and tips that can help: 1. Avocado Puree Ingredients: 1 ripe avocado, 1 tsp olive oil or ghee. Preparation: Mash the avocado and mix it with olive oil or ghee for added healthy fats. Avocados are rich in healthy fats and can help promote weight gain. Serving: Serve as a snack or alongside their regular meals. 2. Banana & Peanut Butter Smoothie Ingredients: 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon peanut butter, 1/2 cup full-fat milk or water. Preparation: Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. Serving: This is a great high-calorie snack for your babies, providing healthy fats, proteins, and carbs. 3. Paneer (Cottage Cheese) Mash Ingredients: 2-3 tbsp homemade paneer, a little ghee, a pinch of salt. Preparation: Mash the paneer and add a little ghee and salt. Paneer is rich in protein and helps in healthy weight gain. Serving: Serve this as a snack or mixed with vegetables. 4. Oats Porridge with Ghee Ingredients: 2 tbsp oats, 1/2 cup full-fat milk, 1 tsp ghee, and a pinch of cardamom. Preparation: Cook oats in milk and add ghee and cardamom for extra calories and flavor. Serving: Serve warm as breakfast or a snack. 5. Sweet Potato & Ghee Mash Ingredients: 1 medium sweet potato, 1 tsp ghee, a pinch of salt. Preparation: Boil or steam the sweet potato and mash it with ghee and salt. Sweet potatoes are rich in complex carbs and vitamins that help with weight gain. Serving: Serve this as a meal or a snack. 6. Rice Pudding Ingredients: 2 tbsp rice, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tsp ghee, and a small pinch of cardamom. Preparation: Cook the rice in milk and then add ghee and cardamom for flavor and extra calories. Serving: This is an easy-to-digest food, providing carbohydrates and fat. 7. Vegetable and Dal Khichdi Ingredients: 1/4 cup rice, 1/4 cup moong dal, 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas, etc.), 1 tsp ghee. Preparation: Cook rice and dal with vegetables and a little ghee. This is a balanced meal with protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. Serving: Serve warm as a complete meal. 8. Full-Fat Yogurt with Honey and Fruit Ingredients: 2-3 tbsp full-fat yogurt, a teaspoon of honey, and mashed fruits (banana, papaya, or mango). Preparation: Mix the yogurt with fruits and honey for added taste and calories. Serving: This is a nutritious snack packed with protein, probiotics, and natural sugars. 9. Ghee Rice Ingredients: 1/4 cup rice, 1 tsp ghee, a pinch of salt. Preparation: Cook rice and mix with ghee and salt. Ghee provides additional calories and helps with weight gain. Serving: Serve as a side dish or along with vegetables. 10. Cheese Toast or Sandwich Ingredients: Whole wheat bread, 1-2 slices of cheese, a little butter. Preparation: Make a cheese sandwich or toast with butter. Cheese is rich in fat and protein, and adding butter increases the calorie content. Serving: Serve as a snack or meal. General Tips: Offer smaller, frequent meals to encourage your babies to eat more throughout the day. Use full-fat dairy products like whole milk, full-fat yogurt, and cheese, which provide additional calories and fat. Incorporate healthy fats like ghee, olive oil, and avocado into their meals to boost calorie intake. Ensure proper hydration with water, milk, and healthy liquids like fresh fruit juices, but avoid giving too much juice as it might reduce their appetite for solid food. If you are still concerned about their weight, consider consulting a pediatrician or nutritionist to rule out any underlying issues and to get personalized advice.
