Q.

My 6 week old baby is due for his vaccination. He has blocked nose and sneezing though. Is it fine to proceed with his vaccination or do we wait? If we have to wait, then for how long can his 6th week vaccination be delayed?

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prefscribed. if any fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dfose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

A. You can proceed with the vaccination as vaccinations are not recommended to be done if the child is having fever but in general cases you can definitely go ahead with getting the vaccination done it’s not a problem the doctors don’t say no for itWrite Your Answer Here
