Q.

My 5 yr old is having night terror since 2 weeks daily. The first episode lasts for about 10 mins, 2nd episode lasts for around 7-8 mins and it keeps on reducing after each episode daily. How long it stays? Is there anything to worry about? His paed did not show much concern. Pls help. Difficult to handle as he is half asleep, he doesn’t recognises us during the episode but soon when he gains his consciousness he goes back to sleep.

A. It is common for children to outgrow night terrors, which typically last for a few weeks to a few months. However, if they persist, it is recommended to consult a pediatric sleep specialist. While they can be distressing, theyf usually do not indicate any serious underlying medical conditions.d
